1. Ways to request deletion
- Use the public form on this page. It works without an Alice sign-in and creates a reference for your request.
- Email us. Write to Hello@AliceKnowsAPlace.com from the address linked to the account.
- Use the app. When the mobile beta is live, its account settings will also provide an in-app deletion route. This public page remains available if you cannot sign in.
Deleting the app from a phone, signing out, disconnecting Google or leaving a group does not by itself delete the Alice account.
2. What is deleted
After verification and final confirmation, deletion includes:
- Account identity, email, profile, photo and sign-in links.
- Taste profile, preferences, saved area and location history held by Alice.
- Saved, liked, visited and hidden restaurants and private lists.
- Friend links, requests, invitations, blocks and group memberships.
- Your messages, reviews, comments, notes and recommendations.
- Your votes, reactions, RSVPs and personalised score contributions.
- Booking names, references and notes.
- Push tokens, scheduled notifications and linked analytics identifiers where supported.
- Imported Maps or Calendar data and connection metadata.
- The Firebase authentication identity after dependent records are removed.
Google or Apple authorisation tokens are revoked where the provider supports it and then deleted from Alice. Disconnecting a service stops future access; deleting imported data removes Alice's existing copy.
4. Limited information that may be retained
We may retain the minimum information necessary to meet a legal duty, preserve an active legal claim, prevent serious abuse or account-ban evasion, record that a privacy request was fulfilled, or comply with child-safety reporting and evidence rules. This information is separated from ordinary account use, access-restricted and deleted when its purpose ends.
Irreversible aggregate statistics that no longer identify you may remain. Backups are put beyond ordinary use and removed through rolling overwrite, normally within 90 days.
5. Verification, timing and confirmation
- We log the request and give you a reference.
- We contact the account email to verify identity and explain the effects.
- After final confirmation, the account is marked for deletion and new writes are blocked.
- The deletion cascade runs and checks for orphaned records.
- We send a completion confirmation and keep only the minimal case record.
Our target for a routine closed-beta deletion is seven calendar days. A valid UK data-rights request is normally completed within one calendar month after we have the information needed to verify or clarify it. If a lawful exception or extension applies, we will explain it.
If you change your mind before deletion starts, reply to the verification email. Once the cascade has removed data, it may not be recoverable.
6. Submit a request
No sign-in is required. The form stores the request securely so the Alice team can verify and action it. If you prefer, email us directly.
