1. Agreement and eligibility
These terms are between you and AliceKnowsAPlace LTD, a company registered in England and Wales under number 17377232 ("Alice", "we", "us"). They apply to the website, waitlist and, once you are invited and accept them in the app, the Alice beta.
You must be at least 18, able to enter a binding agreement and invited to the closed beta. Do not use an invitation intended for someone else or allow another person to use your account. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the beta.
2. The beta service
Alice helps you discover restaurants, remember recommendations and make private plans with accepted friends. During beta, features may be incomplete, change, pause or be removed. We may limit invitations, locations, devices or features while we test safely.
- Recommendations are suggestions, not guarantees.
- Restaurant details, opening times, prices and availability can change.
- Some features may rely on Google, Apple, mapping or booking services.
- You should keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.
We may contact beta testers about material service changes, safety, account operation and feedback. Optional product news is separate and depends on your choice.
3. Accounts and access
Give accurate account information, keep sign-in methods secure and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless it results from our failure to use reasonable security.
The beta is limited to accepted friends and private groups. An invitation does not create a right to continued access. We may use proportionate eligibility, safety and anti-abuse checks and may require you to accept an updated policy before continuing.
4. Your content and private groups
You keep ownership of content you create. You give Alice a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, process, reproduce and display that content only as needed to operate, secure and improve the service, show it to the audience you selected, and comply with law. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for restricted copies we must lawfully retain.
Only share content you have the right to share. Respect other people's privacy and do not copy private-group content outside its intended audience without permission. You are responsible for restaurant notes, messages and recommendations you submit.
When an account is deleted, we delete that person's authored messages, comments, reviews, notes and recommendations. A non-personal plan or list structure may remain where active members still need it, but without the departing person's identity or identifiable content. See Account & Data Deletion.
5. Acceptable use
You must not:
- Harass, threaten, stalk, exploit, deceive or impersonate anyone.
- Post illegal, hateful, sexually exploitative, fraudulent or seriously harmful content.
- Share personal or precise-location information without permission.
- Send spam, malicious links, malware or unauthorised commercial promotions.
- Scrape, probe, reverse engineer, overload or bypass security or access controls, except where law clearly permits.
- Use Alice to build a competing dataset or make automated decisions about other people.
- Encourage someone to breach these terms or our Community Guidelines.
Our Community Guidelines form part of these terms. You can report or block through the app when the beta is live, or contact us through Support & Safety.
6. Restaurants, bookings and third-party services
Alice does not operate the restaurants it recommends and is not a party to bookings, purchases or arrangements you make with a venue or booking provider. Check allergens, dietary needs, accessibility, pricing, availability and cancellation terms directly with the venue. For urgent allergy or medical questions, do not rely on Alice.
Third-party services have their own terms and privacy practices. Alice is not responsible for their content or acts, but nothing here limits any responsibility we have for how we select, integrate or communicate about them under applicable law.
7. Suspension, ending access and deletion
You can stop using Alice at any time and request account deletion. We may warn, restrict, suspend or end access where reasonably necessary for safety, security, legal compliance, serious or repeated rule breaches, or operation of the beta. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and provide a way to appeal.
We may also end the beta or a feature. Where reasonably possible, we will give notice and a route to request your information before closure. Sections that logically continue—such as intellectual-property, enforcement, dispute and lawful-retention terms—survive termination.
8. Responsibility and liability
We will provide Alice with reasonable care and skill. Because it is a beta, we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation, that every restaurant detail is current, or that a recommendation will suit you.
To the fullest extent the law permits, AliceKnowsAPlace LTD is not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you accepted these terms, business losses arising from personal use, or losses caused solely by a restaurant or third-party provider outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Nothing affects rights you have under consumer law.
9. General terms
Alice owns the service, brand, software and original materials, excluding content owned by users or third parties. These terms do not transfer any intellectual-property rights except the limited permission needed to use the beta.
We may update these terms for legal, safety or product reasons. We will show material changes before they take effect and may ask you to accept an updated version. If you do not agree, you can stop using Alice and request deletion.
If part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest continues. A delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver. You may not transfer your account or rights under these terms; we may transfer this agreement as part of a lawful business reorganisation with appropriate notice and protections.
English law governs these terms. If you are a consumer, you may bring proceedings in the courts that apply where you live in the United Kingdom; otherwise the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
