Child Safety Standards

Alice has zero tolerance for child sexual exploitation and abuse. Although the closed beta is 18+, we design for the possibility that an under-18 may try to access the service and act on any concern promptly.

1. Our standard

Alice prohibits child sexual abuse material, grooming, sexualisation of children, sextortion, trafficking or exploitation, and any attempt to create, request, distribute, facilitate or link to that content or conduct. These rules apply to messages, profiles, invitations, restaurant plans, links and any other part of the service.

AliceKnowsAPlace LTD complies with applicable UK child-safety and online- safety duties and cooperates with the National Crime Agency, law enforcement and safeguarding bodies where required.

2. Prevention in the closed beta

  • The beta is invite-only and limited to adults aged 18 and over.
  • Testers are individually approved rather than publicly discovered.
  • Social contact is limited to accepted friends and private groups.
  • There is no public posting or stranger messaging.
  • Live location and precise plans are not public.
  • Chat media attachments are not part of the safety boundary for this beta.
  • Users can report, block, remove a friend and leave a group.

A stated age limit is not our only control. We assess access patterns, restrict suspected under-18 accounts and review safeguards before any wider release or significant social feature change.

3. Prohibited child-safety conduct

Users must never:

  • Contact, manipulate or build trust with a child for sexual or exploitative purposes.
  • Request, create, possess, share, sell or link to child sexual abuse material.
  • Threaten to share sexual material or use it to coerce a child.
  • Sexualise a person known or reasonably believed to be under 18.
  • Use Alice to arrange abuse, trafficking or an unsafe meeting.
  • Interfere with a safety report, retaliate against a reporter or evade a child-safety restriction.

4. How to report a concern

If a child is in immediate danger, call 999.

Alice's email is monitored, but it is not an emergency service.

For an Alice-related child-safety concern, use the in-app report control when available or email Hello@AliceKnowsAPlace.com with the subject Urgent child safety report.

  • Give the Alice username, group or plan and the approximate time.
  • Describe what happened in your own words.
  • Do not download, forward or create unnecessary copies of suspected illegal material.
  • Do not confront or alert a suspected offender if doing so may increase risk.

5. How Alice responds

We prioritise child-safety concerns, restrict exposure, preserve only the evidence law requires, and investigate with access limited to the designated safety owner or trained delegate. We may remove content, restrict or ban accounts, and report detected and unreported child sexual exploitation and abuse content to the National Crime Agency or another appropriate authority as required by law.

We do not tell a suspected offender about a report where notice could prejudice safeguarding or an investigation. We do not place suspected illegal material in ordinary support tools or use it for analytics.

6. Safety contact and review
