Community Guidelines

Alice is for passing good places between people who know and trust one another. These rules keep private recommendations, messages and plans useful—and everyone in them safe.

1. The beta boundary

  • Alice's closed beta is for adults aged 18 and over.
  • Social content is limited to accepted friends and private groups.
  • There is no public posting, public follower count or stranger messaging.
  • Invitations are personal. Do not post or sell invitation access.
  • Do not add someone to a group or plan to facilitate unwanted contact.

2. Treat people with respect

Do not use Alice for:

  • Harassment, bullying, threats, stalking or repeated unwanted contact.
  • Hateful conduct targeting protected characteristics.
  • Controlling, coercive, humiliating or sexually threatening behaviour.
  • Sharing intimate content or sexual material without clear consent.
  • Encouraging suicide, serious self-harm or violence.

Disagreement about a restaurant is fine. Personal abuse, intimidation and behaviour designed to make someone feel unsafe are not.

3. Keep people safe and follow the law

Never use Alice to create, share, request, facilitate or link to:

  • Child sexual exploitation or abuse, grooming or sexual contact with a child.
  • Credible threats, terrorism, trafficking or violent criminal activity.
  • Fraud, scams, malicious links, impersonation or account theft.
  • Illegal drugs, weapons or other prohibited goods and services.
  • Content that unlawfully exposes private information or infringes another person's rights.
A child in immediate danger?

Call 999. Do not download, forward or make unnecessary copies of suspected child sexual abuse material. Report it to Alice through the route on our Child Safety page.

4. Protect privacy

  • Keep messages, plans and recommendations within their intended group.
  • Ask before sharing another person's home, work, live location or private plans.
  • Do not screenshot or repost private content to shame, threaten or expose someone.
  • Do not upload address books or collect information about people outside the feature they chose.
  • Use fictional information in demonstrations or public product feedback.

5. Be genuine and useful

  • Use your own account and do not impersonate a person, venue or Alice.
  • Share honest recommendations and disclose a material connection to a venue.
  • Do not spam, mass-invite people or post unauthorised promotions.
  • Do not manipulate votes, ratings, recommendations or safety reports.
  • Do not submit content you do not have permission to share.

6. Report, block and step away

When the beta is live, use the report, block, remove-friend and leave-group controls in the relevant screen. Blocking should stop direct contact and hide the blocked person's content where appropriate. You can also email Hello@AliceKnowsAPlace.com.

Include only the information needed to explain the issue. Do not forward illegal material or copy harmful content into a general support email. Alice is not an emergency service. For immediate danger, call 999.

7. Enforcement and appeals

Depending on severity, context and history, Alice may take no action, provide guidance, remove content, restrict a feature, warn, suspend or ban an account, preserve necessary evidence, or report content to an authority. Serious or urgent risks may require immediate action without advance notice.

You can appeal a moderation decision within 30 days by emailing us with the reference and why you think the decision was wrong. A different reviewer will consider it where practical. We will protect reporter identity and withhold unsafe or legally restricted evidence.
